Who else struggles thinking of Valentine’s Date ideas? If you haven’t read my previous Valentine’s Day post then let me fill you in. I have terrible experiences with this Hallmark Holiday. This year I am taking a new approach, I am not going to go in with crazy expectations but rather, I am just going to enjoy my time with my love. There are so many holidays in the year that literally mean nothing. I have learned that I can show my boyfriend how much I love him throughout the year, not just on Valentine’s Day. I have made a list of a few things that I love doing with my partner, and they aren’t just for Valentine’s Day, they can be for any time of the year

Movie Night

Probably one of my favourite date night ideas! I am a homebody so being able to just cuddle up at home with snacks and my babe is my perfect date night. There are a few ways you can spice this up for Valentine’s Day, get some cute matching pyjamas, make red coloured snacks, and watch romance movies. You could even turn your living room into a huge pillow fort! If you want to do something outside of the house you could even catch a show at the theatre! Surprise your partner with tickets to an upcoming movie they wanted to see, and to keep the costs down sneak in your own snacks! Though nothing is better than theatre popcorn.

Make a Meal Together

Now I’m not a great cook, so making a meal with your partner is a great way for you to learn a new recipe and have fun doing it! Pinterest is a great spot to find different recipes for dinners, cookies, cakes, and snacks. This year I decided to try making my own chocolate-covered strawberries! This is like the definition of Valentine’s Day snacks. After looking on Pinterest I saw a post where someone turned the strawberries into hearts and even roses. If you want to get adventurous have a competition with your partner on who can make it the best. In the end, you get to eat your yummy creations, though I usually keep the pizza place number close by just in case.

Go Ice Skating

Ice skating is one of my favourite pastimes! Luckily my partner lives in an area where it’s freezing during the winter, so there is an outdoor skating rink just down the road. I find it so much fun skating around with your partner. Don’t know how to skate? That’s ok! Learning something new together can be fun, even if you do fall a lot. While ice skating might not be possible in your area, look for other activities that you can do together, look for drop-in gym hours and play basketball, or go to a public swim! It is fun to switch things up out of your normal routine. Doing a different activity can be fun a great way to make memories.

Take a Walk

My favourite activity with my partner is going on a walk. It’s a time where I get him all to myself, we just walk around, talking about everything and nothing at the same time. It’s like our time that goes undisturbed from phones and other distractions. It is a great feeling to just hold each other’s hand and laugh. Of course, walking the same path every day can get a bit repetitive so switch it up by driving to a nearby town and walking around there. It’s fun to see the different houses, stores, and restaurants. Switch this up for Valentine’s Day by planning a route without your partner knowing, and at the end stopping somewhere for a bite to eat, or a museum to look at. It can be fun to surprise them, and also makes things different than the usual walks.

There are a ton of different date night ideas that you can do throughout the year, this is just a few of my favourite. Let me know if you do any of these date nights with your partner or how you make them different. What do you like to do on Valentine’s Day?

Moral Of The Story: Love someone or everyone all year round.
