Y’all know I love me some books (This is how I talk in person, it is weird to read, let me know!) Combine my love for Halloween and the fall, well you get this mish-mash of a post. I went to Indigo over the weekend on the hunt for some books to match the costumes I wanted to do for my blog this month. I didn’t want to just buy any old book, I wanted one that I would read and enjoy too. This was no small feat, let me tell you.

Pumpkin Heads- Rowell/Hicks

I have heard nothing but good things about this graphic novel, and it’s placed in a pumpkin patch. SOLD! I don’t often seek out graphic novels but I have a deep love for a few indie ones I follow online. Most of them are LGBTQ+ but I love the mixture of art and a story. It is like combining my two loves. This graphic novel is full of bright colourful illustrations and follows the story of Josiah and Deja who have both worked at a pumpkin patch for the last 3 years. It tells the story of their last night at the patch before they finish high school.  I don’t want to give too much away but I really urge you all to read it, it’s a cute story and really gets you into the Halloween/Fall spirit!

This “costume” that I wanted to pair with this book was the candy corn panties that I bought recently a Pink, they have the greatest holiday-themed panties. I would urge anyone to buy some fun holiday-themed undergarments because they make me feel like I’m having fun under wall my clothes, plus they are cute!

Now Entering Addamsville – Francesca Zappia

Over the summer I read the novel, Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia. It was and still is one of my favourite novels from 2019! When I saw on the shelf that the author made another novel I saw the title and immediately thought of my Wednesday Addams costume!

In high school, I went through an emo phase, as MANY of us did I’m sure. I always resonated with Wednesday, I think her personality is just very much like my own. I am extremely introverted (ask anyone who knows me) but I am also just so intrigued by so many things. I want to do and try everything. This year I decided that I would finally make my wishes come true and dress as Wednesday Addams! I am so thrilled with how the images and costume came together.

Do you guys have any spooky book suggestions? I would love to hear them. Stay tuned for my final Halloween post next week. It is a photo series of my costumes that I have been working on all month! I am so excited to show you all of them.

Moral of The Story: Read books, stay spooky.
