Spilling The Tea

“Through the Eye of the Beholder”… the person who is observing gets to decide what is, or isn’t beautiful.

This is a simple phrase that seems to have so much weight in my life. The more common saying is “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” which means beauty doesn’t exist on its own, but is instead created by the ones observing. How crazy, that something doesn’t have a quantitative, or qualitative reason for being attractive, but it depends entirely on what the person beholding has a biased opinion towards. “Beauty” is exactly what I’ve been struggling to find in my blogs… trying to find “mon raison d’etre” as it were.

Lately, my posts have been just about my life and anything exciting that happens (which really hasn’t been a lot, hence the lack of posts). I’ve been reading articles, upon articles, about what makes a blog beautiful, successful, worthwhile, and interesting to the beholder who lives I would like to touch. I read that I needed to find a topic/s that I enjoy talking about and that comes naturally to me. I have so many weird hobbies, creative adventures, and just nerdy experiences that I cannot narrow it down to just a few broad strokes. I find that this is usually a good thing, because I am well versed in many areas, however, it is not convenient when you’re trying so hard to carve out a foothold in the big world that is the internet and figure out that special little niche that is perfect for you, and let me tell you, it is HARD!

With that being said I have decided to start a new chapter of my blog, dedicated to everything important to me… LoveBoys… and of course, Glasses. These are the three things that my life always seems to revolve around lately, whether I like it or not. I have an undying love for glasses and anything related, my love for boys.. well that’s a bit of a rollercoaster. These three things have always been consistent in my life for WAY too many years. No matter where I go or what I do they are always there and something I have way too much experience with.

I want to turn this blog into a compilation of love stories, stupid experiences, and some education about glasses/eyes because this blog can’t be all gossip. When explaining the idea to a friend I phrased it like this, “Educational, with a bit of gossip, and a touch of dick.” Now this will obviously include stories about the people in my life, and the lives of my friends, though some names will be changed because I can’t embarrass everyone on the internet. Some posts will be light-hearted, some will be downright ridiculous (oh the stories I have for you guys!), and some will be super sappy because that is what love is, it sucks and it’s all over the damn place. Now the glasses aspect will include the newest trends, facts, and information about eye exams and the things I learn in Optician school that people NEED to know. Working in the optometry field for a few years now does NOT make me an expert but there are some things that the general public needs to be educated on, in terms of their vision.

Now to all my friends and family who are going to be reading this, I am going to apologize now if you read things that you don’t want to know about. This is your official warning. This blog will be uncensored, real, and share way more information than I have ever been comfortable with before, but I think that people need to be more open about these experiences. There is nothing to be ashamed about, people do weird things growing up and I want to build a community where we can all talk openly, and laugh about the experiences we have had because I think we can all agree that as a collective, we’ve probably had some ridiculous stories.

If there are any specific topics that you want me to cover, whether it’s optometry related, boys or love/relationship related, please let me know! I have some ideas for future posts, and I know the list will continue to grow as I continue to experience stuff in my life. Thank you to everyone who has made it this far, I’m excited for what this new chapter means, and what it is going to bring.

TL; DR – get ready for sex talk!!

  1. I know you were not looking for advice on what or what not to do but I could add one thing. Be consistent, if you can. Not necessarily on what topics you write about but on the writing bit. And if you expect to have an interesting blog, that is, where you interact with others, then you should interact with others on their blogs
